dream+home

a design process of storytelling

I approach home design as a simple collaboration between you and me. You tell me about yourself, and then we do magic, and then we have a house-warming party.

I’ll elaborate on the magic part of that.

Discover

“We sat on that Barcelona patio for hours”.

Working directly with me, Marcus McKenzie, you’ll start the design process by telling me your story - places you’ve enjoyed, travels you’ve dreamt about, people you love. We will outline your story together as a cohesive design album consisting of:

  • a personalized project narrative developed through our conversation and tailored worksheets - starting here.

  • inspirational media you enjoy, such as Houzz Ideabook, Pinterest board, or your own photos from your journeys

  • code research specific to your property

  • three collaborative home + garden concepts/plans, developed from your story

  • working budget estimates to provide feasibility

  • maybe a Spotify playlist.

Design

“Let’s try one with the patio off the bedroom”.

Your story in design form, with the artistic integrity it deserves. Through our continued collaboration, I will generate:

  • focused design options, sharpened by our collaboration

  • dimensioned floor plans

  • furniture layout plans

  • exterior elevations

  • interior elevations

  • lighting plans

  • 3D models with lighting

  • realistic video renderings

  • material board

  • budget estimates

  • a buildable document set of construction-ready drawings

Build

“This is the patio we will retire on.”

Your story brought to life through construction. Collaborating with trusted builders who also know your story, I will deliver:

  • site visits as often as needed to ensure the completeness of your story’s vision

  • schedule updates to help keep progress on track

  • budget compliance to maintain real feasibility throughout the project

  • progress reports to you and your team to ensure you remain the author you deserve to be
